FULL REVIEW - WOOHOO

Well gang, it was a good run. After turning page after page, reading word after word, paraghraph after paragraph, I have finally finished my book, the curious incident of the dog in the night-time. It took a good 226 pages to finish this novel, and I can well say it was worth it.

Meet Christopher John Francis Boone, a teenager who knows all the countries of the world and their capitals, who can memorize and count every prime number up to 7,057, and is a mathematical genius. However, he has a developmental disability and has trouble understanding human emotions, jokes, and common analogy's. Oh, and he also HATES the colours yellow and brown.

Chris' real adventure begins when he finds a dead dog on his neighbour's lawn, and begins to investigate who and why someone would do this. When Chris thinks he has solved the mystery, he later finds out that he has only touched the tip of the iceberg, and there is so much more to yet be revealed. Infact, the truth may end up affecting his entire family, as he realizes that he has been told lies for his entire life.

The story of Chris is one to be cherished, and will definitely not leave you unsatisfied. What I find most interesting about the book though, is that you get a chance to see the world through a different perspective. You learn to take things differently, and see things that others wouldn't even notice. Christopher John Francis Boone will leave you captivated and hanging on for more, as you can honestly not get enough of this book. To summarize, I have left a following list of Pros and Cons.

Pros:
- See the world through different eyes
- Constant problems and solutions
- Good dialogue
- Lots of rising action and climaxes
- Funny
- A quick read

Cons:
- Not my favourite ending
- May have to read pages more than twice to clearly understand

If you have been following my blog, I thank you. Also if you have donated, I sincerely thank you! However chances are you have not, because I have not even put up a donation box. Therefore donations are not possible as of now. Yet, in the future, expect to see the WellingtonSecretClubHouseFoundation Inc. become a multi-trillionaire company. Thank you for your time, and I hope you enjoy this book as much as I do.

  1. Good job Connor! I especially appreciated the list of pros and cons that you made and I'm sure others would agree. There is one thing I disagree with though; I've read the book too and I really enjoied the ending. What reasons do you have for disliking the ending?

    1. Thanks for the comment Scott! Well, I found I disliked the ending because I found things began to tone down a bit, and there seemed to be a lot of falling action. Also, personally I did not enjoy the ending because many of Chris' problems were not solved. His mother and father weren't back together, and due to Chris' actions, he may have broken his parents' bond even further. However, it does appear to leave an opening for a sequel, and we just might see one in the future. If there was a sequel, what do you think would happen?

  2. You have some good points, but I feel that the ending was satisfactory even though it wasn't a happy ending. I agree with the opening that is available for a sequel and I think that it would be about Christopher's dad trying to rebuild there relationship and maybe a new character would be introduced that could be a friend of Christophers.

  3. Yes a sequel would be pretty cool! You have an interesting idea though as to what the sequel would be about. Perhaps it could be a story ten years after the events of the ending of the book, and would be a mroe in depth story of Chris and his own family.
